Is hygge what happiness is all about?
Congratulations to Norway as this year they over took Denmark as the World's Happiest Country in the World Happiness Report 2017! All of the top four countries rank highly on all the main factors found to support happiness: caring, freedom, generosity, honesty, health, income and good governance - and Norway in particular has hygge.
What's not to love about hygge? Sitting by the fire on a cold night, wearing a woolly jumper, while drinking mulled wine - probably surrounded by candles. That's definitely hygge.
Eating home-made cinnamon pastries. Watching TV under a duvet. Family get-togethers at Christmas. They're all hygge too.
The Danish word, pronounced "hoo-ga", is usually translated into English as "cosiness". But it's much more than that - it's an entire attitude to life. Read more about it here, just in time for our Winter and Christmas!
